Once the children were introduced to each of the four mystery jars, I told them my ideas on how they were going to make plans for their experiments. I brought the idea to them as a whole group and asked if they were going to mix two of the substances, how would they do it? Thinking like scientists, I heard to use tools like bowls, eyedroppers, spoons, and towels.
I met with each child to hear their ideas for a plan. What did they want to mix together? How did they want to do it? From there, I sorted them into "experiment groups." We came up with procedures and made predictions.
From there we went forward and set up the environment for experiments! Look for a picture story next.
